Job is one of the oldest books of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament and has been often been called “the most profound literary work of the entire Old Testament."
Job is considered part of the "Wisdom" literature of the Bible, and poetically depicts one man's ability to face and overcome adversity. One aim of the Book of Job is to reconcile the co-existence of evil and God and address the problem of evil. Scholars are still divided as to the specific origin, intent, and meaning of the book.
